Lifeguarding

This  course provides entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.

Waterfront Lifeguarding

The purpose of the Waterfront Skills module is to teach lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in nonsurf, open-water areas found at public parks, resorts, summer camps and campgrounds.

Waterpark Lifeguarding

This course teaches lifeguards the skills and knowledge needed to prevent and respond to emergencies in aquatic facilities with waterpark features.

Aquatic Attraction Lifeguard

This course provides entry-level aquatic

attraction lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, recognize and respond

to aquatic emergencies in water depths of 3 feet or less and to provide care for breathing and cardiac

emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over.

Shallow Water Lifeguard

This course provides entry-level shallow water

lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent, recognize and respond to

aquatic emergencies in shallow water up to 5-feet deep and to provide care for breathing and cardiac

emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until emergency medical services personnel take over.

Lifeguard Instructor Training

The primary purpose of the American Red Cross Basic Lifeguarding Instructor Course is to train instructors to teach the basic-level American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses.

Take a Class

American Red Cross lifeguarding particpants must be at least 15 years old by the last day of class, and pass a pre-course swimming skills test prior to taking our courses. Once participants are enrolled, they'll receive the latest science-based training and develop skills they'll use for a lifetime. Private or group courses are available.  In addition to full courses, abbreviated recertification courses are also available for those who hold current lifeguarding certifications.
