Introductory Courses

Try Scuba/Passport Diver

Getting started is easy! Individuals ages 10+ and in good physical condition may enroll in a NAUI Try Scuba and Passport Diver program. Individuals ages 8+ may participate in the confined water portion of the program.

Skin Diver

Fun for the whole family, this certification class is for 8 year-olds and older whether you are an accomplished swimmer or someone who has never spent time in the water. (Even the younger family members can share the fun: 5-year olds and older can enjoy a “Snorkeling for Kids of All Ages” non-certification class.)

Scuba Diver / Junior Scuba Diver

Getting started is easy! Individuals ages 10+ and in good physical condition may enroll in a NAUI Junior Scuba Diver course.  Individuals 15+ may enroll in a NAUI Scuba Diver course.


Diver Courses

Enriched Air Nitrox Diver EANx

Minimum age for participation is 10 years (Junior EANx certification) or 15 years (EANx certification). Divers must be in good physical condition to enroll in a NAUI Enriched Air Nitrox Diver course.

Advanced Scuba Diver/Junior Advanced Scuba Diver

Divers must be a minimum of 10 years of age, in good health and must be previously certified as a NAUI Scuba Diver or equivalent.

Rescue Scuba Diver / Advanced Rescue Diver

The NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver and NAUI Advanced Rescue Scuba Diver courses are for certified divers who desire additional training or orientation to a variety of diving sites and conditions. Divers must be a minimum of 15 years of age to enroll in a NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver course or 17 years of age to enroll in the NAUI Advanced Rescue Scuba Diver course.

Master Scuba Diver

The NAUI Master Scuba Diver course is for certified divers who desire additional training or orientation to a variety of diving sites and conditions. Divers must be a minimum of 15 years of age, in good health and must be previously certified as a NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver or equivalent.

Specialty Diver Courses

NAUI offers a full range of specialty courses designed to enhance your enjoyment of the underwater world while minimizing risks associated with scuba diving.

Night Diver

Minimum age for this course is 15 years plus certification as a NAUI Scuba Diver or equivalent.

Deep Diver

Minimum age for this course is 18 years plus certification as a NAUI Advanced Diver or equivalent.

Underwater Imaging

Minimum age for these courses is 15 years plus certification as a NAUI Scuba Diver or equivalent.

Underwater Naturalist Diver

Minimum age for these courses is 15 years plus certification as a NAUI Scuba Diver or equivalent.  This course is designed to expose the diver to the physical and biological aspects of the diving environment with emphasis on the local area and to expose the diver to coral reef ecology and the methods used by underwater ecologists in their studies of the respective ecosystems.

Citizen Science Diver

Minimum age for these courses is 15 years plus certification as a NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver and NAUI Rescue Diver or equivalent.  Certification as an EANx Diver is recommended.  This course is designed to introduce divers to be able to conduct surveys for citizen science organizations. This program is to be taught primarily in an open water setting.

In addition to the specific continuing education opportunities listed on this page.   Pow Aquatics is authorized to build individual courses for certification based on your personal expertise and needs. If you want to learn how to do it our NAUI Instructors are ready to help you move to the level.

Training Assistant

Minimum age for these courses is 18 years plus certification as a NAUI Advanced Scuba Diver or equivalent, NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver or equivalent and current certification in first aid and CPR. 


NAUI Leadership and Instructor Courses

FIT

Minimum age is 18 years for this program. Certification as a NAUI Scuba Diver, NAUI Rescue Scuba Diver, NAUI Nitrox Diver, NAUI Master Scuba Diver, NAUI First Aid for the Diving Professional, NAUI Oxygen Provider (or equivalent) are required.

As well as a minimum of 25 logged open water scuba dives with a minimum of 12.5 hours bottom time.

Assistant Instructor

As an Assistant Instructor, you will be authorized to teach all aspects of skin and scuba diving under the supervision of a NAUI Instructor. This is the best possible way to develop your instructional skills. The rating can be a step toward full Instructor, or an end in itself.

Dive Master

Would you like to lead dives and dive trips and take certified divers on vacations to the world's best dive sites? Many Divemasters are employed full-time or work independently supervising certified divers during club, store, resort or charter tour and travel activities. As a NAUI Divemaster you enjoy again and again adventures to which you introduce your clients. NAUI Divemaster certification is another option leading to NAUI Instructor qualification.

NAUI Instructor Training Course ITC

The NAUI Instructor Training Course (ITC) is designed to train and qualify NAUI Instructor member applicants. During the course candidate instructors learn effective methods to teach skin and scuba diving in compliance with NAUI diving course standards.

NAUI Instructor Crossover Course ICC

The NAUI Instructor Crossover Course (ICC) is designed to train and qualify applicants in good standing with non-NAUI recreational scuba training organizations as a NAUI Instructor member.  During the course, candidate instructors learn effective methods to teach skin and scuba diving in compliance with NAUI Diving Course Standards.

Instructor Trainer

The Instructor Trainer designation is a formal NAUI leadership designation, not a certification. The NAUI Instructor Trainer designation (IT) provides recognition to NAUI Instructors who have completed a combination of training and evaluated experience specific to the preparing, training, evaluating and counseling of NAUI Instructor candidates.
